Shruti Krishnamoorthy

By Mr. Bishop

Debate coach, Teacher of Business Studies & Economics, Deputy Sixth Form Leader
GEMS Wellington School

I have had the pleasure of teaching and coaching Shruti for a number of years as her Economics teacher and also her coach of The World Scholar’s Cup.

Shruti has been an outstanding student to teach, she is extremely diligent and commited to her study and her tenacious approach to learning saw that there would never be any gaps in her knowledge as she always ensures she has a full understanding of each topic. Her commitment and diligence is also clearly evident from the manner in which she accepts and even seeks out constructive criticism on how to improve.

Shruti was also an absolute delight to coach and mentor in The World Scholar’s Cup in which she represented Wellington International School with distinction culminating in her winning the Debate first Place trophy at The Tournament of Champions at Yale University. During her time as such a dedicated scholar she not only achieved at the top level of the tournament but was always demonstrated herself as a superb ambassador for her school with her exemplary conduct throughout win or lose and also included a wonderful performance of her dance recital, which is also another area in which Shruti has shown immense dedication and resilience.

Shruti has been a genuine pleasure to teach and to coach from a professional and personal perspective and I have every confidence that she will be highly successful in whichever avenue she pursues in life.

Shruti is a conscientious, hard working and diligent young woman. She is always keen to improve and responds well to constructive criticism in order to better herself. She excels academically and works hard to obtain the best results possible. She has an excellent portfolio of transferable, soft skills and is extremely personable. Her strengths lie in communication and empathy which sets her apart from many young people of her age. She is determined, self motivated and has the ambition to pursue an avenue which interests her. I had the pleasure of teaching Shruti GCSE Geography over a period of two years. During this time she demonstrated excellent analytical and evaluative skills, was able to interpret a range of information and data and form balanced and justified opinions. She has a well rounded picture of the world in which she lives and is a true example of a global citizen.

Shruti's Message

Shruti, a sensitive girl since childhood, was keen to reach out to the differently abled sections of the society in whatever way she can. Shruti, a sensitive girl since childhood, was keen to reach out to the differently abled sections of the society in whatever way she can. Her visually challenged aunt, a successful music teacher and composer, has always been a rich source of inspiration for Shruti and made her particularly empathetic towards this section of the society.

In furtherance to these emotions that Shruti grew up with, she embarked on a idea to channelize the divine art that she is gifted with for organizing a fundraising dance concert for the National Association for the Blind (NAB). Shruti decided to perform solo at the event which she aptly christened as “Igniting the candle of Hope”.

NAB, an institution with pan India presence, actively provides education and training to the visually challenged, for achieving self- sufficiency through employment / self-employment and helping them integrate themselves into the mainstream of society with dignity.

The fundraiser received an overwhelming attendance from over 300 art lovers and Shruti’s well-wishers who, at the end of the event, wholeheartedly came forward and contributed generously to the noble cause. The event also provided a platform for NAB to display various handicraft items to encourage the talented section of the NAB family.
